I was asked to do some Christmasy illustrations for a pop up shop in Hong Kong run by Classified, a western style Deli. The designs were inspired by my childhood spent in Germany, where the opening of the 'Weihnachtsmarkt' with its mulled wine, sugared almonds and fresh gingerbread hearts brought a big smile to everyone in town! Here are some pictures. They have a nice little website, animating some of my illustrations.. take a look here.

I received a fresh off the press copy of this book last week from Sian Wilson, a great designer at Little Brown Books. I did the illustration and she applied it to the dust jacket... maybe a xmas present idea?

This little creature is my contribution to the latest sushi magazine, a publication from the Art Directors Club for Germany. This protozoan is part of a card game that can be cut out of the pages of the magazine. You can buy your copy here.

Just came back from the most fantastic wedding in Bavaria! Check this fantastic tent with hundreds of handmade paper tissue pompoms and rose petal covered fairy lights, also made of tissue paper... produced by the bride herself (this picture only shows half the length of the tent!) I added some llustrations for menu and signage... all based on the invite I had designed for them (see previous blog entry).

These collage figures of mine were used on banners outside the Bavarian National Museum in Munich to advertise an event organized by DLD and Siemens to celebrate the Women's Football World Cup last month. The illustrations were taken from the invite for the event which I co-designed with my good friend and talented artist Rina Donnersmarck.

My splash page design for the monsters' website this month. Take a look at some super work by this illustration collective here. We each have a slightly different focus and approach and as a whole offer a wide rage of styles. Don't hesitate to contact each illustrator individually for commissions.

Leela's Book by fantastic writer Alice Albinia is out now, published by Harvill Secker in a beautiful hard cover edition with die-cut dust jacket. The signed copies were flying off the shelf at the launch held at Goldboro Books in Central London on Tuesday, who are featuring it as their book of the month. Go to their website to purchase a copy. It's great to see my cover design lined up in their window and being passed through readers' hands. I hope you enjoy the read and discovering elements from the story in the details of my illustration.

These Litho/collages will be part of the EASTERN LIGHTS Exhibition which is showing contemporary prints by members of the Printmakers Council at the M.P Birla Millenium Art Gallery - Bharatya Vidya Bhavan Centre from May 18th to May 24th 2011 (4A Castletown Road, London W14 9HE)

I spent a day in the print studio last week, exploring my recently discovered method of using photo-litho plates in a collage way of working. The thin aluminium plates can be cut and inked up in small sections, then composed, overlapping in parts to construct a collage which is then run through the press to take a single print. The shapes are then taken apart to be re-inked and put together in a new composition. I am very excited about this technique as each print is a one-off and the separate elements can shift during printing to reveal a surprising outcome. It also gives me the flexibility of re-using parts, which isn't possible when working on a paper collage, where the pieces are glued down in one spot once the composition is decided on.
